The suit alleges that the rapper then edited himself – wearing a curly wigWig reviewsWig reviews and fluffy robe – into the X-rated video.

Murray’s face was blurred out, but Leviston’s was not, she complained.

She is seeking damages for emotional distress and unauthorized use of her image.

Illinois Primary Election: Enjoy the attack ads, but do your homework

January 31, 2010 :: Posted by - admin :: Category - Fab Local News

Oh Illinois politics, you are so predictably and consistently colorful with your rich and recent history of “alleged” corruption and the occasional “indictment.” Illinois is a dream beat for a political reporter—you just can’t make up stories as good as we get them unless you were in perhaps Philadelphia or maybe Moscow. It would be entertaining if it wasn’t so sad. So, to cut to the chase, there’s a primary election Tuesday February 2 in which we will be selecting tomorrow’s reformers and headline makers—but also a raft of not-so-glamorous but awfully powerful public servants—among them, judges.

Who is running? Are they golden, are they crooked, are they beholden to the interests of the Amish special interests? You’ve gotta research this stuff, people, because those attack ads, well, they can be a bit inaccurate.

Start with Illinois voting info.

Then hit these detailed maps of Congressional Districts and their current Representatives
for the Congressional re-elections.

The Board of Election of Commissioners for the city of Chicago takes care of all your voting needs from information about polling places to how to use the balloting system. The site also allows you to preview sample ballots and has a list of all Democratic, Republican and Green party candidates running for office.

Meet the judges. Get comprehensive information about the candidates running for any judicial positions in Cook County. The site lists endorsements for candidates and ratings of candidates from professional organizations, including the Illinois State Bar Association, the Chicago Council of Lawyers and the Chicago Bar Association.

The Cook County Clerk lists nonpartisan information about the candidates, organized by political party. You can also view the full referenda and a schedule of public viewing.

Already have strong party ties? The Cook County Republicans will help you put a face to a name for candidates running in Cook County.  There’s also a link to view federal candidates.

For undecided democrats, the Cook County Democratic Party provides endorsements and voting recommendations for each office.

Chicago’s local ABC station invited candidates to submit information about themselves, including stances on issues. Though not all responded, many of the contenders for the major offices did.

Challenger Dan Hynes’s YouTube channel

Chicago Reader’s “Election Follies”

NBC Chicago’s slide show of candidates

Tribune’s extensive coverage of the entire elections

The race for Comptroller might be the most colorful of all, more on that later.

Let me just say I was ready to go in on Joe after watching tear up Fantasia’s pool house.  But he trully

has talent and I would like to see where he goes from here.

Joe Barrino, the new “Don” of R&B, is an all-around entertainer who is doing things his way. A product of a musical family, Joe has combined his gospel, soul and hip-hop roots to launch a new wave of R&B music.

Even as a child, Barrino felt destined to live a life in entertainment. At a young age, he toured with K-Ci & Jo-Jo, the dynamic R&B duo of the hit-making 90’s group, Jodeci. And when his sister, Fantasia took the world by storm as the 2004 winner of American Idol, he knew that his unveiling would soon follow.

Joe is an independent producer, a member of the R&B group, Infinity and is working on his debut solo album, “In a Class of My Own.” The self-proclaimed “Don of R&B” is here, so fans get ready.

Le Passage, Hearty rally support for Haiti

January 13, 2010 :: Posted by - admin :: Category - Fab Local News

Last night at 4am, Joel Barnes, the general manager of Le Passage, took to YouTubeYouTubeYouTube. “This is…not a publicity stunt,” he said. “This is something that’s real, that I feel is real and important.”

Barnes went on to announce that he’s throwing an impromptu Haiti relief fund-raiser at Le Passage this Friday, January 15, from 6–9pm. Barnes will be collecting canned goods, and every tip he collects will be donated to organizations helping Haiti cope in the aftermath of a devastating earthquake.

Farther north, the Hearty Boys announced that they were heartbroken by the news of the earthquake and will be donating 5% of this week’s profits to International Medical Corps.

This is likely just the first of many efforts we’ll see in the restaurant community. At the end of Barnes’s YouTube video, he called on several other industry folks to help. “Kelli Zink: Help. Billy Dec: Help.” We’ll keep you notified here of how and when these folks step up.

Update: Barnes tells me that Kelli Zink and James Ryan (from the TV show Big Brother) have signed up to be celebrity bartenders at the event. He also plans to throw the event again next Friday (January 22), as well as the Friday after that (January 29).

2nd girl pleads guilty in YouTube attack

January 08, 2010 :: Posted by - admin :: Category - Fab Local News

The second teenage girl charged last year in an attack on a 13-year old girl in a Lombard park that was recorded and posted on YouTube pleaded guilty today to mob action and will be sentenced next month.
The defendant, now a high school freshman, admitted that she screamed
at the victim, a former friend, and pushed her to the ground. Another
girl has admitted to hitting and punching the victim as she lay on the
ground on July 3, at the Taste of Lombard festival at Madison Meadow
Park.

DuPage Judge Thomas Riggs told the girl in court today that her
sentence could range from supervision or probation to 3 years in a
state juvenile detention center. He set sentencing for Feb. 24.

Assistant State’s Attorney Nancy Wilson told Riggs that prosecutors
have a copy of the video recording, which they plan to show at
sentencing. The video was removed by YouTube after the victim’s mother
found out about it and notified police.

Wilson said the girls brought a camera to the fight because they planned to record it.

Defense attorney Michael Botti said his client agreed to plead guilty
after prosecutors dropped a more serious charges of aggravated battery.

“This was a one time act of indiscretion by a juvenile with a clean
record,” he said. “She is humbled and remorseful for the incident.”

The victim, an 8th grader, and her mother were in the courtroom but
declined Riggs’ invitation to make a statement, saying that they would
at sentencing.

Outside the courtroom, the victim’s mother said the incident could be blamed partly on “teenage stupidity.”

The other defendant, who is a high school freshman in Wisconsin,
pleaded guilty in December to aggravated battery and will could be
sentenced to up to 5 years in a state juvenile detention facility later
this month.

Both of the defendants were 14 when the incident occurred.

The victim received bumps and bruises in the attack, but didn’t require hospitalization.

Maddow at Most Orwellian: Murder of Abortion Doctor ‘Terrorism’ – But Not Ft. Hood Massacre by Jihadist

November 17, 2009 :: Posted by - admin :: Category - Fab Local News

Rachel Maddow wants you to stop referring to Nidal Hasan as a terrorist. Please. You know what short fuses they have.

Responding to Republicans’ condemnation of Hasan’s actions as terrorism, Maddow furrowed her brow and played devil’s advocate, as befitting an honorary member of the al Qaeda Legal Defense Foundation —

MADDOW: Remember this one? Yes, it is the old paint-the-Democrats-as-soft-on-terror routine. But in order to play that politicizing terrorism, anti-Democrat greatest hit, the Fort Hood case has to be terrorism. Regardless of how you feel about the political issue of politicizing terrorism, it’s worth asking — was Fort Hood, technically speaking, terrorism? It’s not just a political question. It’s not just a judgment call. It’s not just a matter of taste. It’s a question to which there is an answer, a legal answer. And the charges today didn’t include anything related to terrorism.

Terrorism is not just conceptual political jargon. This is a legal term and it has, interestingly, changed over the past few years. In order for something to be legally considered terrorism, do you have to be taking instructions from a terrorist group? Do you have to have some sort of clear political motive behind the violence? Is it about the way that you commit the crime? What sort of weapons that you use in doing? Is it about how many people that you kill in your crime? Is it about the specific type of people you target, whether they’re civilian or military?

If you’re interested in more than just making political hay out of the Fort Hood case, these are the sort of legitimate questions you would want to ask before labeling this, or any case, an instance of terrorism. Those who are calling this terrorism are making their case in large part because Major Hasan is a Muslim and because he is alleged to have said, God is great, before the shootings. And while it might make for exciting politics to argue that murders committed by religious Muslims are presumptively terrorist acts, those exciting political allegations actually say a lot more about the people making them than they do about the real character of the tragedy at Fort Hood and how we as a country should respond to it.

That’s Maddow on her MSNBC show Nov. 12. What a contrast to her first MSNBC broadcast after the murder of abortion doctor George Tiller in late May. Here’s how Maddow described it right at the start of her show June 1 (click here for link to YouTube video) –

MADDOW: We begin tonight with another deadly act of domestic terrorism.

As Maddow said this, a photo of Tiller was shown situated above the word TERRORISM in capitalized block letters, lest anyone miss the point.

Maddow proceeded to describe a chronology of violence in the last two decades by the "modern anti-abortion terrorist movement in America." For good measure, she mentioned the bombing at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics, which Maddow said was "a terrorist act committed by an anti-abortion extremist."

Here’s what Maddow also said on June 1 to bolster her contention that Scott Roeder, Tiller’s accused killer, had engaged in an act of terrorism (the embedded video starts with Maddow’s remarks on Nov. 12, then shows a portion from her show on June 1, and finishes with another segment from Nov. 12. The YouTube clip linked above shows the June 1 segment in its entirety) —

MADDOW (initially referring to Roeder): He’s known in extremist, anti-abortion circles. He has had writings published in a newsletter called Prayer & Action News which promotes the idea of killing people who provide abortion services as justifiable homicide. Someone calling himself Scott Roeder had participated in anti-abortion discussions at a website of the group called Operation Rescue.

Much as Hasan’s name appears on "radical Internet postings," the Associated Press reported Nov. 5. "At least six months ago, Hasan came to the attention of the law enforcement officials because of Internet postings about suicide bombings and other threats, including posts that equated suicide bombers to soldiers who throw themselves on a grenade to save the lives of their comrades," the AP story reads.

More from Maddow on June 1 –

MADDOW: The group’s founder, Randall Terry (of Operation Rescue), spoke at the National Press Club today and celebrated Dr. George Tiller’s death.

A response foreshadowing that of radical imam Anwar al Awlaki (whom Maddow keeps referring to as a "cleric," as if he’s no different than those fiery Christians), who praised Hasan as a "hero" and "a man of conscience."

To bolster her case, Maddow invited frequent guest Jonathan Turley, a George Washington University law professor, on her show Nov. 12. Turley, who as a guest on June 1 was more circumspect than Maddow in describing Tiller’s murder as terrorism, was more receptive to her point of view this time around –

TURLEY: Criminal investigators and lawyers and judges don’t have the luxury that some people have on television to just simply say this must be terrorism, why?, because we want it to be terrorism. Words have meaning in the criminal code and that’s what brings the integrity to the code, it brings its legitimacy. And you can’t just simply say that because somebody kills a large number of people that it’s terrorism. There are plenty of people that act out of rage. If you take away a few of the aspects of this case, you would have a typical disgruntled worker shooting.

Just as if you ignored a "few of the aspects" of the Manson murders — the victims, for example — the man who set their deaths in motion might now be just another graying, pony-tailed hippie.

I’m not a legal scholar, as the saying goes, but it’s my understanding that guilt is determined on the basis of evidence against the accused, by jurors asked to refrain from overlooking problematic "aspects" of a case.

The willful ignorance of Maddow and like-minded leftists in response to the Fort Hood terrorist attack reminds me of a scene in the Steve Martin movie "The Jerk" and the title character’s response to a sniper trying to kill him (1:15 into YouTube clip linked here) – "He hates these cans! Stay away from the cans!"

Third, email explicit directions complete with their name and any other information that you think might be useful in locating their current location. After confirming payment through paypal, I will make the journey, do my dance and contact you with photographic evidence that I have in fact danced on their grave.

I will not under any circumstances desecrate or perform lewd acts upon the grave!

Rihanna says it all plays back in her head, and she gets ashamed and angry all over again when she see’s the pictures. She’s embarassed and humiliated by the event. Heres how it all was supposed to start:
They were in the car, she saw a text. Chris lied about the text. Rihanna busted him in a lie, she wouldn’t drop it. He couldn’t take that she wouldn’t drop it. It escalate into Chris being violent against her. Her mouth was filled with blood.
He said things to scare her and he had no soul in his eyes…he was blank and blacked out. There was no person when she looked at him, he had no soul and it was like he had nothing to lose. He kept driving, Chris threw the phonePhone reviewsPhone reviews out the window. Then he put her in a head lock and bit her several times.. The New York Yankees Win the 2009 World Series

NYDaily News writes:

The move across 161st Street is now complete.

The Yankees finished their debut season at the new Yankee Stadium in style Wednesday night, hammering the Phillies for a 7-3 win in Game 6 to capture the 27th World Series championship in franchise history.

Hideki Matsui had the game of his life, homering and driving in six runs – tying the World Series RBI record – on what may have been his final night in pinstripes. The first four came against long-time Yankees nemesis Pedro Martinez, who lasted only four innings for the Phillies. Matsui finished the series 8-for-13 (.615) with three homers and eight RBI and the MVP trophy.

Matsui, whose contract is up, said he wants a return engagement. “I hope it works out that way,” the first Japanese player to win the award said through his interpreter. “I love New York. I love the Yankees and I love the fans here.”

Joe Girardi’s gamble to go with a three-man rotation on short rest paid off, as Andy Pettitte gave the Bombers 5-2/3 innings of three-run ball.

Mariano Rivera closed out the win by getting the final five outs, joining Pettitte, Derek Jeter and Jorge Posada in picking up their fifth rings while winning another one for George Steinbrenner, his seventh in all. The Boss wasn’t in attendance, but all four of his children were, including Hal and Hank, who won their first title since taking over control of the team two years ago.

Said Hank Steinbrenner, the Yankees’ general partner and co-chairman, “Right now this is for the players to celebrate and this is for my dad.”

His brother Hal, the managing general partner, said, “I think this means everything to him.”

“This one is for The Boss,” added Girardi.

Alex Rodriguez finally became the World Series winner he dreamed he would be when he was traded to the Yankees six seasons ago.
“My teammates, coaches and the organization stood by me and now we stand here as world champions,” he said. “We’re going to enjoy it and we’re going to party.”

For CC Sabathia, A.J. Burnett, Mark Teixeira and Nick Swisher, the wait was much shorter, as the foursome captured their first career title in their debut season in pinstripes.

The Bombers hadn’t been the last team standing since they beat the Mets in 2000, but they finish the decade the same way they started it: as champions.

“Some years it works out, most years it doesn’t,” said GM Brian Cashman. “Thankfully this is a year we were able to do something for the city and The Boss.”

After Martinez walked A-Rod to open the second, Matsui put together a classic eight-pitch at-bat, crushing a 3-2 fastball into the second deck in right field. It was Matsui’s third homer in six at-bats since he took Martinez deep in Game 2, but his night was far from finished.
