A 56-year-old man is accused of stabbing his roommate over an $80-telephone bill at their West Side residence, prosecutors said today.
Lester Scott was charged with felony aggravated domestic battery in connection with the stabbing that occurred Friday at the residence in the 4400 block of West Madison Street in the West Garfield Park neighborhood.

A 5-year-old boy was apparently accidentally shot and killed by his twin brother late Monday night in the apartment where they lived in the Lawndale neighborhood on Chicago’s West Side.
An aunt of the twins, Tameka Patterson, said the boys were alone, with their mother in another room, when the shooting happened.
“They were in the house playing cops and robbers and found the little gun. It’s really sad, that’s my love, that’s my heart. They’re babies, they didn’t know any better. He’s in heaven right now,” she said.
She called the boy’s death “a straight accident.”
Police and paramedics responded about 10:39 p.m. to a call of someone shot at a two-flat in the 700 block of South California Avenue.

the South and West Sides, officials said.
The first shooting happened on the South Side in the city’s South
Shore neighborhood, police said.
Officers responded about 8:33 p.m. to the 7100 block of South
Merrill Avenue and found a 33-year-old man who was struck in
an apparent drive-by, police said.
Preliminary reports said the man was walking westbound on 71st Street when a vehicle traveling eastbound at a high rate of speed approached. Someone
leaned out of the vehicle and fired several shots at the victim, police said.
The man was taken in good condition to Northwestern
Memorial Hospital with a gunshot wound to his thigh, police said.
About 11:15 p.m., two people were shot in the city’s
Longwood Manor neighborhood on the South Side.
Officers responded to the 1300 block of West 98th
Place and found a 16-year-old boy and a 19-year-old man
with gunshot wounds.
