It’s 4 feet tall, weighs 130 pounds and will be consumed by the Blackhawks today.
It’s a cake replica of the Stanley Cup and took six people 24 hours to make. The Blackhawk dessert will be served to the team later today at the Hyatt Regency Hotel on Wacker Drive.
Pastry chef Joseph Lochirco of Max and Benny’s Restaurant in Northbrook said a representative of Blackhawks owner Rocky Wirtz called the restaurant-bakery at 8 a.m. Thursday to place the order.
“They sent me the picture of the actual cup. We critique it, find out what inscriptions they want, and then start working,” Lochirco said.
“We make all the cakes and cookies for the Blackhawks.”
