Melanie “Mel B” Brown has checked into a Los Angeles hospital to give birth to her third child.

Mel was admitted to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center early this morning with labor pains. Paps caught her looking distressed as she leaned on her husband Stephen Belafonte and a bodyguard, who helped to escort the star from her car to the facility.

The dash to the hospital came shortly after Brown complained about her inability to sleep.

In a series of tweets, she wrote, “can’t sleep arrrhhhh!!!! gonna go to my kitchen and eat,that always helps!!! in LA right now it’s 413am.”

Mel B hasn’t spoken to her sister in over two years. Mel B lives in Los Angeles with husband Stephen Belafonte and her daughters, Phoenix, 11, and three-year-old Angel from previous relationships – hasn’t been in touch with any of her UK-based family and friends, according to her younger sibling Danielle Brown, who follows her on twitter to see how she is.

Danielle – who has children Mimi, three, and five-month-old Hendrix with fiance George Lee – said: “I’m so sick of pretending everything’s OK. I don’t even know if she’s aware I’ve recently had a baby. Mel hasn’t spoken to any of her family or friends in the UK for over two years. “I don’t have her number, I don’t know where she lives – I wouldn’t know how to get in touch with her. I follow her on twitter to make sure she’s OK.”
