Bowen High School Students Caught In Cross Fire: 1 Dead + 1 Wounded
A Bowen High School sophomore was killed and another student wounded in a shooting Wednesday afternoon in the South Chicago neighborhood on the South Side, officials said.
The victims, both males, 16 and 18, were taken to hospitals in serious to critical condition, according to Chicago Fire Department spokesman Quention Curtis.
The 16-year-old, Deantonio Goss of the 8400 block of South Colfax Avenue, was eventually pronounced dead at 3:52 p.m. at Stroger Hospital, according to a spokeswoman for the Cook County medical examiner’s office. The 18-year-old was being treated at Northwestern Memorial Hospital.
Both victims attended Bowen, which is a few blocks from the site of the shooting, said Chicago Public Schools spokeswoman Monique Bond.
The shooting happened in the 8600 block of South Saginaw Avenue, according to the medical examiner’s office.
The 16-year-old was a sophomore and the 18-year-old is a senior, Bond said.
