A business owner was shot early Sunday morning after he closed his store in the Englewood neighborhood.

Police were called about 3:30 a.m., after the man drove to the 6300 block of South Racine Avenue and was able to ask someone for help, said Police News Affairs Officer Laura Kubiak.

The shooting happened in the 7100 block of South Racine Avenue, where his store is located, Kubiak said.

At least four people were wounded in separate shootings overnight on

the South and West Sides, officials said.

The first shooting happened on the South Side in the city’s South

Shore neighborhood, police said.

Officers responded about 8:33 p.m. to the 7100 block of South

Merrill Avenue and found a 33-year-old man who was struck in

an apparent drive-by, police said.

Preliminary reports said the man was walking westbound on 71st Street when a vehicle traveling eastbound at a high rate of speed approached. Someone

leaned out of the vehicle and fired several shots at the victim, police said.

The man was taken in good condition to Northwestern

Memorial Hospital with a gunshot wound to his thigh, police said.

About 11:15 p.m., two people were shot in the city’s

Longwood Manor neighborhood on the South Side.

Officers responded to the 1300 block of West 98th

Place and found a 16-year-old boy and a 19-year-old man

with gunshot wounds.
