Oprah Winfrey will tell viewers on this morning’s live program that she will retire her ChicagoChicago reviews
-based syndicated daytime talk show at the end of the 2010-11 season, its 25th on national TV.
Speculation has been rampant that she might choose to leave daytime TV ever since it was announced in January 2008 that she and Discovery Networks planned to partner on a cable network: OWN: The Oprah Winfrey Network.
Winfrey started her broadcasting career in Nashville, Tenn., and Baltimore, Md., before relocating to Chicago in 1984 to host WLS-TV’s morning talk show “A.M. Chicago.”
That show was renamed “The Oprah Winfrey Show” in 1985.
A year later, Winfrey established Harpo and her talk show went into syndication. In 1990, Winfrey opened Harpo Studios in Chicago’s West LoopA Loop reviews
neighborhood.
