On how she feels about not being recognized for her longevity and being one of the top chicks in the game:
Sometimes I agree with it because I know there are a lot of talented people that have shown me a lot of love on top of my fans really expressing their love for me. Sometimes I think your ego gets in the way because you know you want everybody to feel that way about you. You want to get the credit. You want to get the props but I try not to live in that space because I know it’s ego. I’m just happy with being me. I’m happy with being able to be so connected in my being that I’m able to express that in my music. There are so many people who get the credit but they’re not really connected to their music. I would take the honesty and the connection with my music over the credit any day…but both would be nice!”
On the current state of R&B and who she would love to collaborate with :
I’m not okay with the current state of R&B. That’s why ‘Two-Eleven’ was so important to me. I wanted to do an album that contributed to that genre of music. I think it was very necessary for the music industry and the hearts of people. As far as newcomers, I hadn’t really been paying attention because I was so focused on the album but I can’t help but pay attention to Kelly Rowland. I admire her so much and would love to collaborate with her. Beyoncé is phenomenal and Rihanna is amazing too.

Over the past week my family I have been dealing with a great lost.

My Brother SGT Willie Cook was gunned downed in East Chicago, IN on February 2, 2013 while visiting our grandmother. He recently returned from Afghanistan in September 2012 after serving a year with the 713th EN CO out of Valparaiso, IN. My Brother’s car was shot 15 times. My Brother SGT Cook was found with his seat belt unbuckled covering his son. At the point of gun fire he chose to shield his son, rather than flee. It is because of this action his son is here and how he received the one fatal round, of 15 shots fired total, to the “back” of his head. He was a “Hero to the end.”
The Army is giving a lot of support, but his children, especially his son Antoine (who was wounded in the gun fire) need a lot of support. This website is for SGT Cook’s Children and the mothers to help provide in this time of need. All moneys will go first to the Funeral, then Medical bills, then to the children and mothers.

Vanilla Ice is back in the house, or should we say houses, for a second season in a row with his home improvement show “The Vanilla Ice Project.”
A successful first season won the hearts of many Hip Hop fans along with those home improvement buffs as the rapper purchased properties and reconstructed them to incorporate eccentric designs.
To start the new season off right, he’s asked the king of Hip Hop, Jay-Z, to make an appearance on the show to “swing a hammer.”
This is his way of telling the world that he’s not forsaken his first love.
