Police and fire department teams responded this afternoon to Lake Michigan near Bryn Mawr Avenue to a report of a body floating in the water, officials said.

After a difficult search by police and fire dive teams, however, no body was found and the search was called off.

A police Marine Unit officer said floating debris was found, but no body.

The report of a body was called in to authorities at about 12:15 p.m., said ChicagoChicago reviews Police Officer Gabrielle Lesniak.

Quention Curtis, a Fire Department spokesman, said the report indicated a body was about 100 yards off shore.

The “very dangerous” recovery operation by police and fire dive teams was made treacherous by high winds and choppy waters, he said.

Bryn Mawr is about 7 miles north of the LoopA Loop reviews in the city’s Edgewater neighborhood.

A report that a person saw a distress signal in lake off of Bryn Mawr Avenue tonight sent the ChicagoChicago reviews Police Marine Unit searching the area, but no trouble was found.

The person said they saw what appeared to be a distress flare or signal light about 9 p.m., so as a precaution the Marine Unit sent a boat to search the area, said Officer John Mirabelli of Police News Affairs.

But the officers did not find anyone in the lake at that location so they were able to end the search in less than an hour, he said.
