Tying the Knot might be a popular figure of speech used to represent marriage for some,
but for the young black men at Urban Prep Academy for Young Men, it means they are college bound.
The regular uniform required in Chicago’s Englewood Urban Prep calls for a black blazer,
red tie and khaki’s. But yesterday, they all slipped on the coveted red and gold striped
tied to symbolize that they had been accepted into a college of their choosing.

Oprah Winfrey made a surprise visit to M.A.C.’s Aids benefit dinner in honor of Mo’nique, sending C-list actresses Jackee’ Harry and Shondrella Avery into hysterics.
A spy at Saturday’s M.A.C. cosmetics bash for Mo’Nique at Phillippe Chow in L.A. said that when Ms. Winfrey made a surprise appearance, attendees like Shondrella Avery and Jackee Harry “flipped out” and even “had tears in their eyes.”
“The ladies really couldn’t believe she was at the same party,” the source says. But ever the diva, Mo stole back the limelight when she insisted the entire Parisian-themed luncheon area be turned into a dance floor when the guests finished eating. She then requested that Marvin Gaye’s “What’s Going On” be turned on full blast.
“Mo’Nique started a conga line that went throughout the restaurant and eventually led out to the valet parking area,” the partygoer says. “The ladies, who were all decked in pearls and white gloves, were really getting down.”

In the past three years, San Diego Chargers Antonio Cromartie has been named in at least five paternity suits. That’s because the 25-year-old has at least seven children with six different women in five states. All of his children are under the age of six.
Later this month, Cromartie will appear in a San Diego Superior Court for a judgment related to a $25,00 past due amount in child support that he owes one of the mothers of his children.
“My client has every hope and expectation that Mr. Cromartie will honor his responsibilities to his children and live up to his court-ordered responsibilities,” said Steven Bishop, an attorney representing one of the mothers. “She keeps receiving promises, but she can’t feed her child with promises.”

CINCINNATI, Ohio – Procter & Gamble is recalling two flavors of its Pringles chips because they may be tainted with Salmonella.
The Cincinnati-based company is offering replacement coupons or refunds for the Cheeseburger and “Taco Night” versions of the snack. The company has had no reports of illness.
P&G is the latest company to recall products with flavor-enhancing hydrolyzed vegetable protein made by Las Vegas-based Basic Food Flavors.
Salmonella bacteria can cause serious infections in young children and others with weakened immune systems. Federal authorities say Salmonella was found on Basic Food’s processing equipment. (Source)
