According to his bankruptcy records, Walker said he had $2,900 in his savings account, owned $19,000 in clothes and furniture and owned his $6,000 championship ring.
In his bankruptcy filing, Walker lists both Grant and his older daughter’s mother as recipients of child support but does not list an amount owed to them.
Walker is currently on probation in Idaho after he pleaded guilty to not paying about $750,000 in gambling debts to three Las Vegas casinos. Because of his probation, Walker had to get permission to leave the state in order to attend Thursday’s hearing, said Helen Ashford, an attorney representing Grant.
In court, the 6-foot-8-inch forward stood silently as his attorneys explained his pending bankruptcy to Circuit Judge Michael Ian Bender.
According to the attorneys, Walker owes about $117,000 in past-due child support, but he said some of the court documents were never delivered to him. Walker and Grant have joint custody of their daughter, but the agreement “hasn’t been the best,” Walker’s attorney Jessee R. Dagen told the judge.
Dagen also told the judge that her team is still trying to obtain bank statements, which will show how much Walker has been paying to support his daughter.
