Kerry Washington Covers Capitol File Magazine + Interview!!!!

Doesn’t Kerry Washington look fab!

Check out part of her interview below:

On her childhood:
“From a very young age, the subjects at the dining room table were affirmative action, sexuality education, low-income housing, education reform—the pros and the cons, the ideological histories, the sociopolitical contexts.”

On For Colored Girls:
“That play is such an important part of the American canon, but also of the canon for women of color. A lot of us have a For Colored Girls poem in our back pocket, the way you’d have a Shakespeare monologue in your back pocket.”

On being an actress:
“I don’t think of it in terms of being difficult. There are much more difficult jobs than mine, like running the State Department! My job does not compare to Hillary Clinton’s.”

Chicago Operation Cookie Jar!!!!

Share

Days after two Chicago Public School teachers were arrested and charged with stealing public money, Cook County prosecutors today announced criminal charges against five others accused of similar crimes.

The charges are part of an expanding public corruption probe nicknamed “Operation Cookie Jar.”

In addition to charges leveled again teachers Mark Gruntzel and Edmund Jones last week, prosecutors also charged five others ranging from private business owners to public administrators.

Jerome Latos, 54, and John Syarto, 33, seasonal plow and salt truck drivers for the Illinois Department of Transportation, were each charged with official misconduct and theft of government property, according to a news release from the state’s attorney’s office.

Latos, of Tinley Park, and Syarto, of Oak Forest, are accused of using six tons of government-owned street salt on private property of a Palos Hills business owner. That owner, Robert Jennings, of Burbank, was charged with theft of government property for knowingly accepting the street salt, authorities said.

Two others were also charged stealing government property. Jeffery Flinchum, 25, of Brookfield, a former motor vehicle parts manager for the county highway department, is accused of using government money to buy numerous parts for his personal vehicle. He also faces an official misconduct charge.

Also, Azalea Plump, 36, of Chicago, a former employee for the University of Illinois at Chicago’s department of women and family nursing, fraudulently received about $72,711 in overtime she never earned, the state’s attorney’s office said.

$700,000 Of Cannibis Seized In Tinley Park!!!!

Share

A tip led Chicago police late Sunday to a West Side warehouse where they seized an estimated $700,000 of high-end marijuana. One person was taken into custody.

Police executed a search warrant at the warehouse at 5101 W. Lake St., which they described as an unlicensed auto body shop.

Harrison District tactical officers found about 115 pounds of marijuana, and also seized eight handguns and a shotgun from the shop and the home of the shop’s owner, police said. One of the guns was stolen. Police also found a quantity of ammunition.

“Our tactical guys had a better day than the Bears,” said Sgt. Edward Sullins. “We were able to develop information from a source and obtain a search warrant. Our guys found a large amount of high-end pot, probably worth just under $1 million on the street.” Police later lowered that estimate to $700,000.

Charged with felony cannibis trafficking was Fernando Camarillo, 43, of the 2500 block of Landen Drive in near west suburban Melrose Park.

Police on Saturday raided a Southwest Side home where about $40,000 in drugs were confiscated.
