A delivery man was charged with battery after allegedly attacking a
FedEx driver in a pre-Black Friday fight at Gurnee Mills, police officials said.
Michael Schacht, 58, of Lake Zurich, was making a delivery to a store
in the outlet mall on Nov. 24 when the incident allegedly occurred.
The head of the Illinois High School Association backed off Monday on the possibility of stripping Maine South of the Class 8A state football championship it won Saturday night, but said the school still faces possible sanctions because of the behavior of the program’s coaches and fans.
Maine South was notified Monday of possible sanctions centering on the “creation and distribution of counterfeit sideline passes, the presence of alumni on the sidelines and incidents at the state finals with security/local police over the removal of some of the individuals in possession of the fake passes,” according to an IHSA press release.
After saying earlier Monday that “anything is on the table with regard to sanctions,” IHSA executive director Marty Hickman later clarified the possible penalties.
