Man critically wounded in Lawndale stabbing
Police were seeking a relative of a man stabbed and critically injured late this afternoon in the Lawndale neighborhood, authorities said.
Officers from the Ogden District responded to a call of a man injured on the street in the 1800 block of South Harding Avenue about 5:20 p.m. and found the male victim on the sidewalk, suffering stab wounds, said ChicagoChicago reviews
Police News Affairs Officer John Mirabelli.
Initial reports indicate the man was stabbed in the stomach, said Ogden District Capt. Elias Voulgaris. The victim apparently is the uncle of someone at the Harding Avenue address and was stabbed by another uncle of the person, Voulgaris said.
The attacker fled the area before authorities arrived, police said.
The victim, who was about 40 years old, was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in critical condition, said Fire Department spokesman Joseph Roccasalva. He was being treated in critical condition there, Mirabelli said.
Police were seeking the relative believed to be the attacker, Voulgaris said.
