Northwestern University has issued an alert to warn students of a sex assault on its Evanston campus Monday.

According to the University’s Web site, at about 9 p.m. Monday a female student was attacked while she was walking in a hallway on the second floor of the Technological Institute located at 2145 Sherdian Road.

School officials said a man approached the student and started a conversation with her.  When she tried to walk away, the man grabbed her arm and then grabbed her below the waist, according to the alert. The female student screamed and the suspect fled, the alert said.

Northwestern University Police were notified and began a search of the building and surrounding neighborhood, the alert said. 

The suspect is described as a black male, about 25 years old, dark complected, clean shaven and with shoulder-length braids and a thin-to-medium build. At the time he was wearing an oversize white short sleeve T-shirt.

About three weeks ago, another female student reported she was forced off a ChicagoChicago reviews Transit Authority Red Line train headed toward the Howard station and taken to a Chicago apartment where she was sexually assaulted. But a Chicago police spokesman said detectives on the caseCase 39 reviews weren’t convinced the attack had occurred. The university removed the alert about that attack from its Web site.

Anyone with information on the latest incident is asked to call campus police at (847) 491-3456.
